The fairy tales included in the three-volume collection Armenian Folk Tales were selected from several dozen collections compiled from folklore materials gathered during the 19th-20th centuries and the early 21st century. To make them more accessible to a broader audience, the tales were adapted from various dialects into literary Armenian, while preserving elements of popular vocabulary and remaining faithful to the original texts. Some of the tales in the volumes are composite versions, created by combining different variations of the same story. Preference was given to tales whose central motifs are common across the folklore samples of various provinces of Mets Hayk (Greater Armenia), as well as the stories that are unfamiliar to the public but hold significant value - hidden treasures that offer fresh insights into the Armenian people's mindset, spiritual, and cultural heritage. These tales remain instructive and relevant today. We are confident that they will captivate readers of all ages, young and old alike.
